My most recent work investigates contemporary issues of gender and sexuality as it exists within popular and material culture. The issues of gender within my work address psychological constructs placed on individuals by society. It explores the notion of gender being taught as a behavior, removed from the anatomy of sex. My work examines maleness and femaleness as being two distinct cultures and therefore providing two uniquely different life experiences. I find it fascinating the way in which popular and material culture address these differences through (among other things) advertising campaigns, product design, and television programming.
